At the buzzer

I'm baaack. Did ya miss me?
Probably not.
Anywho, we just had our annual AmerCable/News-Times Scholar Athlete Awards Banquet last night. I must say, it went well after a heart-pounding beginning.
I had been playing a not-so-amusing game of phone tag, trying to get Louisiana Tech coach Teresa Weatherspoon as our speaker. Unfortunately in this game of tag, I was "IT" most of the time. The one time I did talk to her she committed to speak and only asked that we give her the address so she could put it in her GPS.
My boss lady emailed the address to her and, the game of phone tag began again. I tried about nine times, unsuccessfully, to see if she did get the address. She never replied nor returned calls and I could never catch her in her office.
Finally, the day of the banquet arrives and I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that she got the directions and will make her appointment.
The banquet started at 7 p.m. The place was filled by about 6:55 p.m. Everyone was there, of course, except T-Spoon.
My boss lady looked at me as we were about to start the program and asked, "Where is she?"
Well golly gee, I don't know. Let's check and see if she's in my pocket. Nope, not there.
Those were the thoughts in my head. I didn't dare speak them out loud because I didn't want to make her my ex-boss lady.
I walked outside, followed by PC coach Mark Young, a La. Tech graduate and a Lady Techster fan. He seemed almost as nervous as I was, although there's no way that could possibly be the case. After a few minutes of guessing, "is that her?" she finally arrived, about a minute before the thing was about to begin.
Talk about your buzzer beaters.
