Degeneration Next

Now, for the first of my weekly wrestling rants.
Like most WWE fans, I was looking forward to the reunion of DX. When I say reunion, I mean the reunited forces of Triple H and Shawn Michaels, since they're the only two former members left in the WWE.
I had hoped the writers would update DX, since both guys are around 40 years of age, now. I was wrong.
Somehow, seeing guys their age giggling after performing Beavis and Butthead-type pranks isn't as funny as it was when they were doing it seven or eight years ago.
In his days since DX, Triple H's character had turned into one of the most vicious villians in the WWE. Now, all of a sudden, instead of bashing victims with a sledgehammer, he's dancing in the ring like Jerry Lewis.
Like I said, I hoped they would update it, bring in some new, younger guys to learn from the originals. I picture Carlito as a perfect upstart to carry on the DX humor with Michaels and Triple H acting as mentors.
Maybe that will come later. As for now, it just looks a little odd for me.
Speaking of odd, as happy as I am to see Edge's heel turn doing so well, I'm a little disturbed by the new Lita.
I was a huge fan of the original Lita. She was a fearless, bad ass chick and the first female to have WWE fans chanting her name instead of calling for her puppies to come out and play.
It's amazing to me that the writers have no more imagination when it comes to women. Whenever they want to turn a diva into a heel, they make her a slut.
I'd always wanted to see Lita as a heel but I find her current character lacking. Heck, any of the Diva-search mannequins could do what she's doing, now.
I do like the Edge and Lita combination and could really get into the Bonnie & Clyde thing if they would focus less on her "slut" image and more on her fearless, bad ass side.
Again, maybe it will come later. But, with the WWE writers, I seriously doubt it.
Today's absolutely adorable athlete is Lita.
